Things We Like in Crossgates

Crossgates is four miles from the City Centre and is well situated for easy access to the M1.  Temple Newsam House is one mile away, which is a great place to visit for family days out. Why not have a walk around the local woods or a game of golf at the nearby Temple Newsam Park Golf course. Crossgates is ideal for families or commuters looking for a friendly place to live near Leeds City Centre.

Crossgates is a large suburb in east Leeds and is four miles from the city centre. Temple Newscam, Colton and Whitkirk lie to the south. Crossgates has its own shopping centre called the Arndale or Crossgate Shopping Centre. The high street has many local independent retailers, local library services and many high street traders as well.

For shopping, there is the Crossgates Shopping Centre, a large shopping centre with approximately 200,000sq ft retail space and contains retailers such as Tesco Metro, Peacocks, New Look, Iceland, Wilkinsons, Superdrug and many more.

For leisure and entertainment there is Manston Park which has football pitches, bowling green, tennis courts and a playground. There is also a Mecca Bingo for all you bingo fans!

There are two schools in the area: Temple Newsam / Colton Primary School, which offers childcare in their  before and after schools clubs such as the Breakfast Club or sports clubs, and The Temple Moor High School, which is the main high school for the Colton, Crossgates and Temple Newsam areas. The schools achieved a good status in the most recent OFSTED report. The John Smeaton Community College has also recently built new school buildings and is an excellent school.

For eating out there is a great choice in Crossgates. There is the Colton Mill Harvester Restaurant, which has a good family restaurant, and if you are looking for pub grub there’s the Brown Cow and Dragon on Selby Road. For Mediterranean try La Catina 44 which is an ideal place for all occasions.

For travel, Crossgates is close to junction 46 of the M1 and is on the A6120, Leeds outer Ring Road. Crossgates has a local train station with regular trains into Leeds City centre and is on the main bus routes.
