Property in Whitkirk and Colton

Colton and Whitkirk are small villages in the eastern suburbs of Leeds.  The Colton Retail Park offers a great range of shops and is on the main bus routes into Leeds City centre.  The area is situated close to junction 46 on the M1 and on the A63, making it easily accessible for travel.  There are two cricket clubs nearby which offer sporting activities for all the family. There are two primary schools in the area: Colton Primary School and Whitkirk Primary School.
Colton and Whitkirk have a small town feel but have the benefit of being close to Leeds City Centre. With a great retail offering and great restaurants it makes it an idea place for families.

Things We Like in Whitkirk and Colton

Colton and Whitkirtk lie to the east of Leeds with Crossgates to the North and Temple Newsam to the south. This area is easily accessible by main roads including junction 46 of the M1, the Leeds outer Ring Road  (A6120) and the A63, making it an ideal location if you need to commute to work or for easy access into Leeds City Centre.

For shopping there is Colton Retail Park, which has a lot of the main high street brands including JS Sainsburys, Argos, Boots, Pets at Home, Next etc. For local shops we recommend either driving to Temple Newsam or Crossgates, which have more facilities.

There are 2 local primary schools in the area. Colton Primary School is the most local situated on School Lane. The school achieved an outstanding status in the latest OFSTED report and has strong links with the local community. It also is part of the Temple Newsam Colton Children's Centre, which offers a range of provisions for parents and children. The next most local is Whitkirk Primary School, which is situated on Templegate, walk and achieved a good status in the 2011 OFSTED report. The school offers quality child care provision before and after school in their Whitkirk Kidz Club and has recently been awarded the Activemark Gold Award by Sport England for their achievements in sport.

For leisure and entertainment there is the Colton Institute Sports club, which is home to the Colton Cricket Club, or the Whitkirk Cricket Club on Selby Road.

The nearest hotels are the Travel Lodge or Premier Inn hotel, which offers a standard accommodation for guests, or there is the Thorpe Park Hotel, which is an AA four star, rated hotel.

For somewhere to dine there is the Colton Mill Harvester Restaurant, great for the family, or if you are looking for pub grub there is the Brown Cow and Dragon on Selby Road. For a quick pizza or family meal there is Pizza Hut on the Colton Retail Park.

For local travel the nearest train station is in Crossgates, which is a mile up the A6120. Colton and Whitkirk are well connected on the local bus routes, with a majority of buses stopping just by the retail park.
